Vision Abolition's first trip to Fiji focused on building retaining walls for the Homes of Hope campus near Suva. Homes of Hope strengthens and restores families in the South Pacific, operates residential homes for young single mothers and their children, and offers training in parenting and marriage, small business, and Christian discipleship. Homes of Hope and Vision Abolition have partnered to help end the sex slavery trade and restore the victims.

The Vision Abolition crew, made up of a dozen people with extensive contracting experience, went to work almost as soon as they landed in Fiji for a 10-day stay starting March 24, 2007. They shipped equipment, including a rebar cutter, to the South Pacific island to help in the process. They worked side by side with Fijians connected to Homes of Hope.

The combined crew built two concrete retaining walls reinforced with rebar. Although a common method of construction in the United States, the method is rarely seen in Fiji. A Fijian government official came by to observe the construction method. The walls will allow construction of more buildings for the campus. The last wall was finished the night before the team was to fly home.

The Vision Abolition team took great care to teach the Fijian team how to build the reinforced walls. The Fijians have since built three walls on their own in the months following the trip.

As important as the construction was, the Vision Abolition team got to know many of the girls and women at Homes of Hope. The team learned about the difficult lives these girls and their children have faced.
