Sergeant Bray of the Phoenix Arizona Vice Squad gave the following disturbing tales in Bilstein's Reality Book:
"A 15-year-old girl was kidnapped, taken to an apartment and forced to take various drugs to fog her memory. She was brutally gang raped by four men over an eight-hour period. The men assaulted her vaginally, orally and anally. The pimp threatened to kill her or pour battery acid on her sister's face to keep her in line. She was forced to sexually service an average of five men a day for 42 days."
"Three girls were working the Van Buren area in Central Phoenix. They were 16, 17 and 18 years old. The 17 year old failed to make the amount of money mandated by the pimp on two nights. The pimp had the girl strip naked and then flogged her with a water soaked leather belt, while the other two were forced to watch."
Bray said the most insidious of all is deliberately impregnating the victim. Once the child is born, the pimp has a permanent hook into the victim's life because of the child custody issues.
Pimps have also been known to seek or "groom" a girl for up to a year."
But there is hope. A Phoenix, Vice Squad Undercover Detective told The Reality Book that "...we arrested two pimps and had two cases with four juveniles and two adults. Unfortunately, we had to book the juveniles. One was beaten pretty severely. All the girls were 15 or 16 years old." Further, "I talked to all of the juvenile girls this weekend (even runaways from out of state) and they all stated that they would want and need a place like this (a Safe-House)... in most of the cases, they have no where else to go, their parents are in jail or dead or don't want them...they seem so hopeless. But all said that they would want to go to this place (a Safe-House). That's encouraging."
